our story

Established in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, we grew quickly thanks to the support of our community. We began by selling individual orders then party packs, then delivery catering which eventually led to the honor of being part of special moments—weddings, baptisms, graduations, private events, and even large corporate gatherings and just like that.. our small business turned into a high demand on-site catering company.

With no culinary background, we had to learn, adjust, and pivot to build a brand that forever changed our lives. We did it by always listening to our customers and catering to their needs, committing to consistency with every order offering the best customer service because we truly value our clients

And to think—it all started with our famous crunchy, crispy, cheesy quesabirrias

Our pricing starts at $18–$22 per guest depending on your package. We also charge 18% gratuity and a travel fee if your event is outside of San Jose

At El Compa Cali, we make booking a breeze and take the stress off your plate. We offer three simple packages and even let you choose your table cover cloths. With the experience, equipment, and staff to handle large and multiple events simultaneously, we’ve got you covered.

Each staff member is personally trained by the owner himself, Alan—aka El Compa Cali—ensuring quality service no matter which team is serving your event. Our team arrives in uniform with name badges and is knowledgeable about every food item we serve. They’re welcoming, attentive, and ready to answer questions—you’ll receive service with a smile.

We arrive approximately two hours before your scheduled serve time to cook, set up, and be ready to serve right on time. We come fully equipped and don’t require anything from our clients—not even trash cans. We decorate our tables beautifully, creating a presentation that always leaves guests in awe.

Everything is made from scratch. Our salsas range in heat from mild to spicy, with our famous hot orange salsa being the spiciest. We cook all food on-site to ensure maximum freshness. Meats are seasoned to perfection and cooked just right. Our street tacos are served on a four-ingredient yellow corn tortilla that will drive your tastebuds wild.

And let’s not even get started on the quesabirrias—crispy, crunchy, cheesy corn tortillas filled with our famous beef birria (braised beef), slow-cooked for six hours in a special blend of spices. We separate the broth from the meat and serve it in small cups—this is our heartwarming consommé, perfect for dipping or sipping. The quesabirrias are our signature item and always the party favorite.

Our beans and rice are vegetarian-friendly, and the rice is so flavorful that guests often ask, “Whose grandma made this?” Our stunning salsa bar is fully stocked with fresh toppings to elevate every plate.

Finally, our aguas frescas are a hit—my personal favorite is watermelon. Each flavor is vibrant, delicious, and served in clear cups so your guests can enjoy the beautiful colors.

Guests will rave about how amazing the food tastes and be wowed by the presentation. They almost always return for seconds—and many ask for to-go plates. After service, we package up any leftovers for you to keep, using trays and containers we provide. Clean-up takes just 30 to 45 minutes, and we leave your space spotless—like we were never there.
